Critical Reflection

When I first started this module, I was not sure of what this module would turn out to be. I was not expecting this module to be so impactful in my learning.

However, with the weeks going by, I feel that I am more concise with my words and phrasing compared to when I first started this course. Under Professor Blackstone's guidance, I have also become more confident in my speech which was one of the goals that I wanted to improve from the start. In the past, I used to stumble on my words and end up panicking. However, with the constant practice every week, I feel that I have managed to tackle my weakness by being more outspoken, be it in class or outside context. Especially during the latest presentation that I did last week was a memorable experience as I was a confident speaker with enough practice being made. With no script and bullet points on the slides, has enabled me to not rely on slides and engage more with the audiences. One of the key takeaways is that I have learnt the importance of parallelism in bullet lists during presentation. This ensures that the different points are consistent and leaves a lasting impression on the audience. I feel that this helps to make our ideas clearer and communicate with the public well.

To add on, I have seen improvements in my own written proficiency. I was prone to grammatical errors in my written essays. To say that all errors are being eliminated is impossible as no humans are perfect, but there were lesser mistakes made.

For the group project, I feel that it was an engaging experience. At the start, I assumed that it would be just a typical research project. However, my group mates were all dedicated and devoted to the project, which made me stay motivated. I was lucky as I got to choose my teammates, though it was my first time working with them, I really enjoyed my time with them.  After many weeks of discussion, we finally decided to settle on our Aeroshell project. I learnt that there are many factors that are needed to take in consideration. For instance, I learnt how to use the 7Cs of communication throughout the project. We first had to perform extensive research in the project, such as finding specifications on battery and hot-swapping techniques. Although our presentation slides were not the best, I know that we did our best and the overall experience turned out to be positive. The struggles I faced definitely made a huge impact in my life and I can confidently say that I have achieved my goals in this module. I would like to thank Wei Hau, Phan and Victor for being such an amazing bunch of teammates. I was never shy to share my ideas with them. Each of us have different working styles but we were adaptive and managed to convey our thoughts without arguments. I appreciate their efforts and I am glad that we have established great rapport by the end of the report.

Overall, I feel that this module is a fruitful experience as I have achieved my goals of being a confident speaker and improving my writing skills. I feel satisfied and have gained many insights throughout this module.

To end off, I want to thank Professor Blackstone for being an excellent teacher. He is very detailed especially when giving constructive feedback. He had helped me see the flaws in my writing and presentation skills which made me improve further. His jovial and optimistic character has turned this module into an enjoyable one. Thanks for the valuable lessons. Hope to see you soon. Take care.

P.S I did not manage to add in 1.5 spacing in my blog as that would affected the formatting of the blog. Sorry for the inconvenience made.
